Baroness Margaret Thatcher, nicknamed "The Iron Lady," who served as Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1979 to 1990 and during that time helped bring the return of some measure of economic freedon, passed away on Monday at age 87 after suffering a stroke.
Mrs. Thatcher had been in ill health in recent times and had been suffering from dementia.
The first woman to serve as British Prime Minister, Mrs. Thatcher led the Conservative Party to three straight victories and severed 11 1/2 years as Prime Minister.
