Again, Ron Paul was given relatively short shift in Wednesday's Republican debate at the Ronald Reagan Library at Simi Valley, California.
And again, Dr. Paul clearly outdistanced his rivals by, at the very least, a country mile.
Here are his thoughts on John McCain's suggestion that US troops remain in Iraq for a hundred years.
This is a weblog that celebrates efforts to restore constitutional government while exposing statist politicians and their causes.

Because of the differences in how absentee and early-voting returns are handled, some counties report an estimate of the precincts reporting based on expected turnout.
Former New York Mayor Benito Giuliana is formally pulling the plug on his Presidential campaign and will endorse Senator Doubletalk.
At least 62,000 Florida voters chose freedom.
Maybe there will be more time for Ron Paul in tonight's scheduled GOP debate at the Ronald Reagan Library at Simi Valley, California.
As for what amounts as a "beauty contest" for the Democrats because of the state's delegates taken away from by the national party because of primary scheduling:

*The Democratic National Committee plans to penalize Florida Democrats for holding an early primary by stripping the state party of all its delegates to the national convention. If the penalty is lifted, the state party will have 185 pledged and 25 unpledged delegates.
Because of the differences in how absentee and early-voting returns are handled, some counties report an estimate of the precincts reporting based on expected turnout.
Would-be-commisar, errrr, former North Carolina Senator John Edwards has announced plans to suspend his Presidential campaign today at a speech in New Orleans. He has no plans at the moment to endorse any of his surviving opponents.

An excellent blogcolumn on the cult known as the American Presidency.
You have to look to the posthumous personality cults of Dishonest Abe, FDR, JFK.
Some might say that Bill Clinton and George W. Bush are living versions of personality cultism.
This was certainly NOT what the Founding Fathers (perhaps save for Alexander Hamilton) had in mind.

It appears that Senator Obama will pick up 25 of the South Carolina delegates, while Mrs. Clinton will pick up 12 and Senator Edwards 8.
Meanwhile, in front of this Tuesday's Republican winner-take-all primary in Florida, that state's Governor, Charlie Crist has endorsed John The Free Speech Muzzler McCain.

The Republican National Committee plans to penalize South Carolina Republicans for holding an early primary by stripping the state party of half of its delegates. Without the penalty, the state party would have 44 pledged and three unpledged delegates.
California Congressman Duncan Hunter on Saturday decided to pull the plug on his Presidential campaign, which never gained any traction.
As for the Democrats, Hillary Clinton topped Barack Obama in the popular vote in the Nevada Caucuses, though the Illinois Senator may still end up winning more delegates.

Ron Paul will take part in tomorrow's scheduled Fox News Channel debate telecast from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (but Duncan Hunter and Alan Keyes are being left out, again).

FNC Loses Forum Partner
This is what you get for excluding Ron Paul (and Duncan Hunter, who is excluded from tonight's ABC debate as well) from your upcoming New Hampshire forum.
I wonder if FNC's exclusion (especially of Dr. Paul) is at corporate behest.

Iowa Post Mortems
As you may know, in Thursday's Iowa Republican caucuses, Ron Paul finished in double digits with 10%, while Mike Ein Reich, Ein Volk, Ein Fuhrer Huckabee took the contest by a surprisingly large margin over Catcher's Mitt Romney. Fred Thompson finished third, just ahead of John I Wanna Limit Free Speech McCain.
Dr. Paul had more than twice the support that Rudy Benito Giuliani received.
Pressure is growing on Fox News Channel to include Dr. Paul in their scheduled Sunday forum in New Hampshire.
As if anyone cared, Barrack Obama took the Democrat's contest, with John Mr. Class Warfare Edwards edging out Bill----errrrrr----Hillary Clinton for second. Two longtime senators quit the Dem race, Joe Biden (DE) and Chris Dodd (CT).
In spite of what Sports Guy Keith reported on MSNBC, ex-Alaska Senator Mike Gravel has not dropped out.
